One side shows a horse, with a caprid or possibly another horse above it, and what is probably another caprid lying next to it. The reconstruction is exemplary. Now don’t get me wrong it is beautiful but I would prefer to not only enjoy the view but the ice skating as well, for a reasonable price, so the Natural History Museum is a very close second choice. I was treated by my lovely date to the Natural History Ice Rink, after we seen it on Facebook and we were not disappointed. So apart from the wonderful setting what makes ice skating a perfect Christmas date idea is that there’s nothing more romantic than skating round an ice rink together.

The beauty is you will be slipping, sliding, laughing and falling over together while having a great time. You will get a solid 50 minutes on the ice which is more than enough time to grab a few pictures and a video of your pupil going it solo on the ice. You can get pictures by the ice rink staff but they will cost you a few bob or ten. Afterwards you’ve got plenty of pubs to choose from in the South Kensington area and warm up with some pub grub. Nothing beats a lovely date inside the museum, the place is stunning and such amazing friendly staff. We must complement our guide Benjamin Drew he was kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. I first came to this museum back in when I was a nipper and I remember All too well Dippy the Diplodocus, The dinosaur skeleton which had pride of place in Hintze Hall.

I first remember coming to the museum back in and being excited and scared at such a magnificent model which I thought was real – but it was very memorable. As were the other displays of the dinosaurs, and whales and cave men. Dippy has now been replaced by Hope the Blue whale – which I am so looking forward to going to visit! A little bit disappointed with the number of gift shops taking over the museum.

I have visited the museum a number of times and each time there is a new gift shop for tourists to buy overly priced goods. I know that the museum needs to make money somehow but maybe think of more inventive ways than taking up every knock and cranny with people selling toys. Would defo go av a look, lots to see and we’ll set out! Free entry too! Was very busy with school trips which is to be expected but very noisy and harder to get around!
